i have this feeling i will need to work much much much harder for organ now. 'cos we're doing the organ version of piano diploma.
grade 5 examPERFORMANCE
repertoire: prepare 8 pieces. must have JOC pieces. examiners will choose one JOC piece and one normal piece, and maybe have to play a third song. 40 marks.
improvisation: two parts. part a - as per normal. part b - motif. given two bars, make the rest yourself. 20 marks each.
sight reading: no more chord names above the bars. read the notes. 20 marks.
to pass, get a 75/100.
FUNDAMENTALS
theory:
melody dictation - listen to the examiner play, write down what was played, play for the examiners to hear.
chord dictation - write down chord name and base note played.
chord recognition - recognize some different chords. something to do with minor, major, dominant and something something. hearing gotta be really good.
practical part:
sight singing - i will fail. i cannot sing, much less SIGHT SING.
keyboard harmony - i have no idea what this is.
transposition - i hate changing keys, especially halfway through a song. i'm gonna suck at this one.
for both theory and practical, each section must get at least 60 marks, theory total upon 100. but to pass overall, must get 375/500.
i think i missed out something. but oh well. just looking at this makes me scared.
I GOTTA WORK HARDER!
oh. and JOC pieces are a bit more classical pieces written by japanese children. they're quite advanced music. sigh.
random note: people please motivate me to do physics. NOW.
